The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is responsible for advocating in universally accessible and sustainable tourism. This includes maintaining tourism within the global agenda, promoting cultural knowledge and utilizing the benefits of tourism to reduce poverty. The UNTWO has 156 Member States, six Associate Members, two Permanent Observers and over 400 Affiliate Members. Headquartered in Madrid, Spain, this organization has a General Assembly at the head, with an Executive Council that aids in decision-making tasks, and a Secretariat to promote the organization’s vision.
